BACKGROUND

President of International Hotels & Resorts, Mohsen Khalil Amer, brings a wealth of personal experience of creative and world-renowned hospitality projects in Europe, USA and the Middle East. His expertise covers unit-level management of large international hotels, and includes the opening of the largest hotel and conference complex in the UK (now known as the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel at the National Exhibition Centre) and the Royal Lancaster Hotel, where he directed the multi-million re-development and management, establishing the Royal Lancaster as London’s premier, award-winning conference and banqueting venue.

At a corporate level Mohsen worked for 20 years with the multi-billion pound Rank Organisation, culminating in his appointment as Director General of Rank Hotels and Restaurants whilst it was at the peak of its UK and US hotel management (10th largest hotel group in UK). He directed over 35 hotels worldwide, including franchise affiliations with Hilton, Radisson, Holiday Inn and the world-famous Hard Rock chain.

As Director and Senior Vice-President of the Albert Abela Corporation, he oversaw 15 hotels including properties currently branded as Radisson SAS Nice, Columbus Monaco, Marriott Courtyard Neuilly Paris and the Airport Hotel, Dubai. Assignments in the Middle East include the redevelopment of Casino du Liban in Beirut. Projects in London include the development of Monte’s, an exclusive private members club in Chelsea in association with Alain Ducasse.

IHR projects have comprised diverse London developments including the iconic China House and the Orient Restaurant on Piccadilly (now The Wolseley).

In the Middle East, at a corprate level on behalf of clients, IHR have renegotiaited the long-term area franchise of the world-famous Hard Rock Café.

Also in the Middle East, and in particular Egypt, with its excellent investment environment and booming real estate market arising from record foreign investment, IHR projects have included the development of the private members Cairo Capital Club; introducing and assisting Hyatt International to enter the Egyptian market in Sharm el Sheikh and in Cairo by rebranding the former Meridien Hotel; a review of Steigenberger Egypt operations; and the exploration the potential development of Soho House in Cairo.

Diverse experience in catering projects, many of which have been orchestrated by IHR’s sister company, Madina Consultancy Ltd, in Cairo include the introduction of Exxon Mobil’s On The Run Cafés; the development of brands such as Beano’s Café and Aero Café; managed the strategic expansion of the La Poire patisserie chain; and working with Deloitte to prepare a Memorandum of offer for EgyptAir Inflight Services.
